Communities of practice
Discover the communities that have been set-up across the University to ensure that practitioners share and develop best eLearning practice.
Accessibility Working Group
At Nottingham Trent University we are taking an institution-wide approach to promote accessibility and to help inform the choice of the new VLE (NOW) implemented over the last year. The Accessibility Working Group has been set-up to guide this work. We are focussing equally on the following:
- how the NTU Online Workspace, NOW, makes its resources accessible to disabled people
- how it supports the authoring of accessible content by all authors, regardless of technical expertise.
Find out what we have achieved to date.
eLearning in Mathematical Subjects (ELMS) Working Group
Mathematics is present in diverse subject areas such as science, engineering and statistics, to social sciences, humanities and business studies. However, practitioners encountering similar issues do not necessarily come into contact. That's why eLearning in Mathematical Subjects (ELMS) was set-up. Find out how the group facilitates the sharing of practitioners' concerns, ideas and developments across the University.
ePortfolio Working Group
Portfolios are a collection of documents which can be used to demonstrate or provide evidence for learning outcomes. An ePortfolio transforms this into a digital artefact whereby users can create, store, organise, share, reflect and present purposeful collections of information and pieces of work. Find out why the ePortfolio group was set-up and what it aims to achieve.
Learning Object Repository (LOR) Working Group
A learning object is a digital item which can be referenced, used and reused for the purposes of supporting eLearning. They include things like electronic documents, images, audio and video recordings, blogs, wikis, quizzes etc. At NTU, we have set up a LOR Working Group to investigate the effective use of the NTU Online Workspace, NOW, for storing and reusing these learning objects. Find out what we have achieved so far.
