Religion and beliefs
The University is committed to tackling unlawful discrimination and harassment on the grounds of religion and / or belief.
There are two main ways in which it does this: one is through the Equality Scheme which is the framework within which teams across the University set objectives for progressing equality in their area of work.
The second main way the University tackles equality is through Equality Impact Assessment (EIA). NTU reviews all existing or proposed new policies for a positive or negative impact on equality. If something is found to be potentially negative, solutions can be found.
The Equality Act 2010 protects against discrimination on the grounds of religion and belief. Access information about Religion or Belief Discrimination in relation to employment, seeking employment or vocational training at the website of the UK government.
Finally, the Equality and Diversity Team can help members of its community to access information and resources and training in relation to religion and belief.
Guidance on good practice within higher education institutions in relation to religion and belief is available through the Equality Challenge Unit.
The University is also a member of Employers' Forum on Belief, an independent employers' network developed by employers themselves to share good practice on religion, belief and non-belief in order to make the most of their diverse workforces.
If any student or member of staff feels they are being bullied or harassed due to their actual or perceived religion or belief, they can source advice through our Harassment Adviser Service.

The University is keen to institute formal consultation mechanisms with members of staff and students of different religions and beliefs, and warmly invites them to contact the Engagement Officer in confidence to discuss suitable ways in which we can gain their feedback on different aspects of University life.
Staff members and students can access Faith Support through the Faith and Spirituality service.
