Equality Information
Equality Information Annual Report
The Equality Information Annual Report provides details about the staff and students of the University in relation to the legally protected equality characteristics.
Why are we doing it?
We are required by the public Equality Duty, introduced by the 2010 Equality Act, to have due regard, in the exercise of our functions, to the need to:
- eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Act
- advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
- foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
One of the ways in which we must demonstrate compliance with this Equality Duty is by publishing information about the effect that our policies and practices have on people across all protected groups.
The information must be published in a manner which is accessible to the public, and must include information relating to people employed by the University (our staff) and people who use the University’s services (our students).
Who is responsible?
The Equality and Diversity team is responsible for coordinating the collation and publication of this information.
What does it contain?
The report is in two sections. The first section shares information about our students, including what we know about their equality characteristics, and what activities we undertake to better understand and meet any needs that they may have in relation to their equality characteristics. The second section contains the same information, but in relation to our staff. The report gives examples of how we use this information to improve the University’s policies, practices and services. The report also explains any areas for improvement that we have identified and will be working towards.
How do I access the report?
You will be able to open the document by clicking on the name of the report below. The report is published in two file formats, Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF. This should make it accessible to different people with different technological needs and preferences. The content of both files is exactly the same.
If you are unable to access the report for any reason, please contact the Equality and Diversity team by email.
