Detailed below are organisations providing specialist guidance, resources and publications in relation to equality and diversity matters.

Equality Challenge Unit
The Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) promotes equality and diversity in higher education and provides a comprehensive range of resources. The unit also produces a range of publications available for download covering all areas of equality as they relate to both staff and student issues.

Equality and Human Rights Commission
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) promotes equality and human rights to create a fairer Britain. The commission provides a variety of information on their website including a section offering advice and guidance to employers, service providers and information about the requirements of public sector.

Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE)
Working in partnership, HEFCE promotes and funds high-quality, cost-effective teaching and research, meeting the diverse needs of students, the economy and society. HEFCE produce a range of publications.

BBC - Information on Religion/Belief
The BBC website provides a wealth of information covering individual religions and beliefs. Of particular interest is the Interfaith calendar detailing religious holy days and festivals.

The Faith Guides
The Faith Guides, produced by the Higher Education Academy, cover Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. They are written by respected academics with many years of research and teaching experience, and in conjunction with the relevant religious communities. The series covers key religious and cultural sensitivities that may arise within a university environment.

The Government Equalities Office
The Government Equalities Office (GEO) has responsibility from within Government for equality strategy and legislation and takes a lead on issues relating to women, including women’s engagement, and sexual orientation and transgender equality matters. They have a range of publications and fact sheets available to download.

Membership organisations

Listed below are organisations specialising in equality and diversity areas, to which the University has paid membership. As part of this membership all members of the University will have access to members only resources.

Employers' Forum on Age
The Employers' Forum on Age is an independent network of leading employers who recognise the value of an age diverse workforce. Through our membership, all NTU staff can access a range of information and publications relating to the promotion of age equality.

Employers' Forum on Belief
The Employers' Forum on Belief is an independent employers' network developed by employers to share good practice on religion, belief and non-belief. A range of publications are available.

Employers' Forum on Disability
Employers' Forum on Disability is the world's leading employers' organisation focused on disability as it affects business. Through our membership, all NTU staff can access a range of information and publications relating to the promotion of disability equality. Many of these publications are available via our resources for staff page.

Opportunity Now
Opportunity Now is an organisation for employers who are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for women. Through our membership, all NTU staff can access a wide range of information and resources relating to the promotion of gender equality.

Race for Opportunity (RFO)
RFO is an organisation committed to improving employment opportunities for ethnic minorities across the UK. The organisation produces a range of information, resources and publications relating to the promotion of race equality.

Stonewall
Stonewall is an organisation dedicated to achieving equality and justice for lesbians, gay men and bisexual people. Their website provides a range of information, including publications in relation to the workplace. The University is a member of Stonewall.
