Bidding for Public Sector Contracts:
Know what potential Buyers are asking… Understand what they want…Assess their risks and concerns…Showcase how well you can match their needs

Are you deterred by red tape? Have you ever considered bidding for public sector contracts, but decided not to because the process is too bureaucratic?

In association with the Food and Drink Forum and Action Sustainability, Future Factory has developed this set of three workshops designed to help your business win Public Sector contracts. Sessions are delivered by specialist consultants, with a proven track record of supporting clients across industry sectors to win over £13m of new business in the last two years.

The Workshops will explain the techniques deployed to win contracts.

1) PQQ Masterclass – How to Submit Successfully
30 May 9.30 am – 1.30 pm Nottingham Trent University, Clifton campus

Writing a successful Pre-Qualification Questionnaire is the first big challenge in the overall process. To be able to respond effectively, you must:

  • Know what a PQQ is!
  • Manage the Evaluator to win contracts.
  • Understand and manage the Public Sector's notion of Risk and the importance of assessing it correctly.
  • Understand what Buyers are really asking for in a PQQ document.
  • Create effective method statements that meet the tendering organisation's expectations.
  • Compile a War Chest of documentation for future PQQs and Tenders.
  • Understand the importance of Quality, Sustainability and Equality in today's climate.

From Field to Fork: Sustainable food
Leicester (venue tbc)

If your business is food, then this is the event for you. At this one day event you'll examine the sustainability issues that affect each part of the food growing, manufacturing and catering processes, from the field where it's grown to the plate it's served on. Restaurant and cafe owners, as well as anyone in the food manufacturing industry can learn tips on how ensure that the food you handle is as sustainable as possible.

Nottingham Trent University city campus, 1.00pm - 4.00 pm

Interactive Sustainable Purchasing Training for SME's.
Fundamental interactive training on the main elements of purchasing to help SME's become more sustainable and manage their spend utilising the proven workbook process. The afternoon spent with Professor Mark Day of Henley Management School, the most influential Strategic advice centre in the UK who are advisors to the UK government, and local management consultant Ray Newell,(authors of the workbook), will stimulate the memory banks of most and initiate a few to the rudiments of good sustainable purchasing practices, through various practical and interactive exercises.

During the session you will learn:

  • what real savings are
  • what spend mapping entails
  • how to analyse your spend
  • how to manage risk
  • price analysis 
  • understanding your marketplace, 
  • sourcing
  • key tips on negotiation 
  • the pitfalls of contractual terms/conditions.

3) Presentation Skills
Venue: Nottingham Trent University City site, 9.30 am - 1.30 pm

This session takes you through the whole presenting process, from structuring your presentation, preparing and dealing with nerves to interacting with and positively influencing your audience.

The interactive workshop will cover:

  • preparation, preparation, preparation
  • essential do's and don'ts
  • visual aids, which to use and how best to use them
  • engaging with the audience – making your presentation interesting
  • non–verbal communication – more than just the words you say
  • getting your message across with impact.

Environmental Sustainability Champion training
Nottingham Trent University city campus,  9.30 am - 3 pm

This training course is aimed at those receiving grant payments from the Future Factory project, but is open to other eligible businesses too. At this one day event, Debra Easter and Adrian Williams of the Future Factory team will provide delegates with an outline of the issues that concern environmental sustainability within SME businesses. It will equip those attending with the information they need to act as agents for improvement within their business. No prior knowledge of sustainability is required.

The aim of the session is to:

  • give participants a generic overview of sustainability issues – and why they are important
  • find out what can be done to lower the environmental impact of the business
  • outline engagement / communication methods.
