A lot of students have queries about their accommodation after results day, many of which are answered below.

I have a confirmed offer of a place and a room reserved. What should I do next?
You will need to login to the accommodation booking system and set up your payment plan within eight working days. (You should have received an email to this effect.) Please have bank details handy when you access the booking system. If you are unable to do this within the specified time period, then the room will automatically be released for other students to book and your deposit will be lost.

My son/daughter is not available and I am unable to set up their payment plan. What should I do?
If you do not have access to their email inbox, please contact us to arrange payment for their room.

I have a room reserved, but would like to change halls of residence. Is this possible?
Unfortunately, due to the number of students looking for accommodation, it is not possible to change your room once you have paid your deposit. We recommend that you stick with your current room, as we find that once students start university and make friends they generally don't want to move rooms.

However, if you have arrived and would like to move you can call into the Accommodation Office in Central Court, Newton Building from Monday 4 October onwards and register yourself onto our internal transfer waiting list. Please be aware that we do not allow room moves for the first four weeks of term. If for any reason you do experience problems once you are here, please contact us for help or advice.

I have a conditional offer of a place and no room or I have accepted a place through Clearing or the Adjustment period, but don't have a room What should I do?
Please contact us as soon as possible. We do our best to help every student find suitable accommodation before the start of term.

I have not met the conditions of my offer. What happens to my deposit?
Your deposit will be refunded to you in full within four weeks. Please note that if you subsequently re-apply to the University you will need to find alternative accommodation. Contact us to see how we can help. You can also search the latest private sector vacancies.

I have been made an alternative offer of a place at NTU. Will my room booking be kept for me?
If you have paid your deposit we will ensure that your room is kept for five calendar days until you have made a decision on your course offer. If you accept your place on the course, then you will be asked to set up your payment plan within eight working days. If you do not accept the alternative offer, your room will be released for other students to book and your deposit returned.

What happens to the deposit I have paid?

  • If you do not meet the conditions of your original course offer, then you will receive a full refund of the room deposit paid within four weeks.
  • If you did meet the conditions of your original course offer, and have chosen not to proceed with your room booking, then your deposit will be lost.
  • If you set up your payment plan and take up your room as planned, then your deposit becomes a damage deposit for your room. This will be returnable at the end of the agreement, subject to an accommodation inspection.

Any other questions?
Contact us if your query is not answered above. Please note that due to the volume of queries during this busy period there may be a slight delay in replying to your question, but we will get back to you as soon as possible.
