Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)

Accepted for direct entry to undergraduate degrees.

Two Grade II and four grade III double-unit subjects required.

Bachelor degree

Considered for Masters degree:

  • when awarded by the University of the West Indies
  • when awarded by tertiary institutions, provided the programme of study has been accredited by the University Council of Jamaica.

Where grades are used:

  • B+ is considered equivalent to 2.1
  • B is considered equivalent to 2.2.

Where grade point average marking is used:

  • 3.0 to 3.49 is considered equivalent to a 2:1 degree
  • 2.5 – 2.99 is considered equivalent to a 2:2 degree.

 

Masters degree

Considered for PhD and research degrees:

  • when awarded by the University of the West Indies
  • when awarded by tertiary institutions provided the programme of study has been accredited by the University Council of Jamaica.
