Nottingham is well-known for its nightlife and people flock here on weekends from all over the country. Nottingham is a safe place to go out and the city has won a Purple Flag Award for the last three years. But there is a lot more to the city than the traditional stag-dos and hen nights. There is a thriving scene of underground music that covers dozens of genres and venues.

Rock City is legendary for the live acts they have attracted. Everyone from U2, David Bowie, Nirvana and Rage Against The Machine have played on the hallowed Rock City stage.

Walkabout bar is an Australian themed bar and a regular haunt for the students in term-time.

In the evenings the National Ice Arena puts on bands and comedians. The likes of Kings of Leon, Peter Kay, Prodigy and Justin Timberlake have gigged here since it opened in 2001.

The Bodega is a small venue that has a great reputation for booking upcoming acts. The Strokes, Coldplay, White Stripes, Bright Eyes and Klaxons have all done sets here.
