Nottingham is known for being the shopping metropolis of the East Midlands. If you want to live in a place with a good mix of shops you recognise and plenty of independents that you will grow to love then, the city centre has plenty on offer for you.

Clumber street has been said to be one of the most busy shopping streets in Europe.

The Victoria Centre is one of the two major shopping centres in the city centre and includes stores such as HMV, John Lewis and Boots.

The Victoria Centre also houses Victoria Market, which is one of those places you have to visit: a haven of fresh vegetables, fabrics and cheap books and CDs.

The other major shopping centre in town is the Broadmarsh Centre, which has the likes of Boots, BHS, Wilkinsons and Argos.

Sir Paul Smith’s flagship store stands on the end of Byard Lane on the site where he first made his name. Since then Sir Paul has come back to NTU on more than one occasion to give talks to our fashion students.

Not far away from the Paul Smith store in the Lace Market are new independent clothes shops, such as the beloved Pink and Lilly’s.

As well as the cool independents, Nottingham is also blessed with major label stores like Firetrap.
