Welcome Week
What is Welcome Week?
Our Welcome Week is one of the largest Freshers' Weeks in the UK. It takes place one week before the start of term and you will enjoy trips, tours, gigs, barbecues, parties and sports designed to help you to:
- meet new people
- find your way around the University
- settle into your new life.
What about postgraduates and international students?
You're welcome too! You may not be interested in partying all night (although you can if you want), but there are plenty of other events to interest you, and even some just for you.
In previous years our postgraduate and international students have enjoyed trips to the theatre, gigs, barbecues, tours of the countryside and meeting up with other students for a coffee at the Welcome Week meeting points. You will find something of interest whatever you are into.
Our international students can enjoy a range of including an airport pick-up service and advice sessions to make sure all that important paperwork is sorted out.
So, how do I get involved?
Just turn up! The week traditionally begins at the weekend, when you can start to move into halls. After that there is a week of events organised by our own Welcome Week team and Students' Union. You'll usually have some of your course induction events in this week as well (unless your course starts a bit earlier). A guide will be posted to you in September and lots of information will be available online so you can plan your week.
