Students in Classrooms schemes
NTU is committed to helping you to boost your CV, develop your skills, make new friends and support the local community. The Students in Classrooms schemes are one of many opportunities we have in place to help you to achieve this. Over 400 placements are available in local schools, college and academies each academic year, that provide interested students with the opportunity to:
- develop their employability skills and CV
- earn a regular income
- undertake personal development opportunities
- receive specialist training and support
- make new friends
- gain a certificate for their achievements
- help local young people to realise their potential.
These opportunities will enable you to support local pupils through:
- one-to-one mentoring
- literacy support in primary schools
- general classroom support in primary and secondary schools.
You will also discover fantastic opportunities to act as a University ambassador for a range of events taking place within NTU and the local community.
For all schemes, students are provided with specifically tailored training which has been developed over the last ten years and is delivered by NTU staff, in conjunction with teachers from local schools. This ensures an excellent introduction to the types of situations and experiences likely to be encountered, as well as giving a taste of the work to be undertaken.
In addition, comprehensive support is available to students across all schemes which includes:
- regular email and telephone contact
- group review meetings
- additional top-up training
- support from school coordinators and staff
- one-to one support when required
- access to personal development sessions.
