NTU Global Week

Global Week is a vibrant, inspiring festival showcasing our multicultural community on campus every year. Through art, dancing, sport, and food, it connects and celebrates the different cultural heritages of our students and staff and provides an opportunity for them to extend their international outlook.

Global Week celebrations will take place 26 February – 1 March 2024.

Global Week

Our annual Global Week celebration is a vibrant and inspiring festival that showcases our rich cultural community and addresses important global issues on campus.

Through arts and crafts, dancing, music, sport, and food, it connects and celebrates the diverse cultural heritages of our students and staff, providing everyone at the NTU community an opportunity to extend their global outlook.

Join us across Clifton, Brackenhurst, and City campuses, as well as online for cultural fairs, performances, workshops, information sessions and much more. These events will be delivered by our students, colleagues and some community partners.

Since 2020, NTU Global has donated £1 for every student who attended Global Week to a local sustainability project on campus.

These efforts have resulted in funding the beehives on the Boots Library Roof, introducing e-bikes at the Cycle Hub, planting of wildflowers at City Campus, and enhancing the outdoor classroom area at Clifton Campus.

By taking part, you're not just celebrating diversity and culture – you're also contributing to a greener future.

The popular cultural stalls occur from 11 am to 3 pm each day during Global Week, based on the dates allocated to the involved campuses.

These stalls encompass a blend of culture-specific activities and content, often featuring a combination of more than one culture. They are organised and run by various entities such as students-led societies, organisations, or professional services.

Showcase your talents and moves! Put on a performance of drama, dance, music, and sport on our "global stage." These performances typically take place during lunchtimes on the same days as the cultural fairs.

Global Week provides an opportunity to celebrate your culture through diverse workshops. These workshops offer a range of activities, including teaching fellow students and colleagues new skills.

Whether it's playing a musical instrument, mastering pronunciation in a different language, crafting beautiful arts and crafts, practicing meditation, or learning a new sport, creating a workshop is the ideal way to share and teach your skills!

For NTU academic colleagues, Global Week presents the perfect opportunity to infuse a global theme into your subject.

Consider incorporating a global element into the module, utilising global case studies, or examining the subject within a global context. This approach enriches the learning experience and fosters a broader understanding of the subject matter.

In addition to our regular Language Café events at the Global Lounges, we are excited to introduce various other language-themed activities throughout Global Week. These might involve tasters of specific languages, calligraphy/typology sessions, language bingo, or other engaging games.
