Thirsty Thursday

Network. Learn. Be inspired.

That's Thirsty Thursday's mission. This popular, free event helps Nottingham's budding entrepreneurs to translate their business aspirations into reality.

Thirsty Thursday is organised by NTU and the University of Nottingham. Its success is evident due to the fact that it is now in its ninth year, having just celebrated its twenty-fifth event. Thirsty Thursday motivates students and graduates to become more entrepreneurial and consider the option of running their own businesses.

Over the years, more than 2,000 participants with drive and ambition have enhanced their knowledge. They have learnt about everything from marketing to finances, received expert support and gained up-to-date information on the business topics of the day.

Thirsty Thursday events provide an opportunity to hear successful young entrepreneurs recount their own experiences in an informal social setting and everyone has the opportunity to network afterwards over drinks and a buffet. The DJ and prize draws also add extra interest.

Thirsty Thursday is the place to be if you have an exciting business idea.

Over 70 people attended the last Thirsty Thursday, held at Antenna, Nottingham on Thursday 21 February 2013.

The event featured music from Mark Del, a buffet and prize draw. Speakers included:

Olu Amodeni co-founder, ITEM Seven Limited
While studying at the University of Nottingham, Olu recognised a new business opportunity. On graduation he pitched his idea to the University. With their backing, Olu opened ITEM Seven, a food outlet serving African and Caribbean food.

Aislinn Ball founder, BooBoo Kitty Couture, Home of all things vintage inspired and handmade
A 2006 NTU Textile Design graduate, Aislinn launched a successful career in London in high-end interior design. However her passion for fashion brought her back to Nottingham to start her own business. Her company, BooBoo Kitty Couture, offers a bespoke made to measure vintage dress making service.
