Courses
Teacher training courses:
MA in English Language Teaching
This is a full-time or part-time Masters course with pathways to suit both experienced and inexperienced language teachers.
Modules in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages can be studied in the second and third year as part of degrees in English, French, German, Spanish, Modern Languages and International Relations. These provide initial training which is helpful in getting language teaching jobs abroad. Subject to demand, it is possible to combine these with the Cambridge CELTA, the best-known initial training qualification for EFL teachers. It is sometimes possible for students from outside the University to join these courses.
English language courses:
Pre-sessional course in English for Academic Purposes
We offer intensive courses of 21 hours a week for periods of from one to four months during the summer. These are aimed at students who intend to study at NTU and who have achieved the necessary academic qualifications but not the required English language level.
In-sessional language support in English for Academic Purposes
These are free classes and tutorial sessions for international students who are already studying at NTU and have met the minimum language requirement, but would benefit from additional development of language and study skills.
University Language Programme (EFL)
Language classes in many languages are available to NTU students and registered external learners. Our team provides ULP classes in English to students for whom English is not their first language.
