Media training

The Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism at Nottingham Trent University provides an outstanding environment for media training.  Our up-to-date television and radio studios offer a realistic setting for developing presentation skills, and our team of professional journalists will show how to get your message across on the radio, TV, online or in print.

Our team, who teach on the Centre's industry accredited journalism courses, know how journalists operate, how to prepare for interviews and how to manage questions.  Participants will be taught how to respond confidently to questions on the doorstep or in the studio.

Media training at NTU will prepare delegates to face journalists by:

  • building confidence in their performance (what they say and how they say it including breathing and relaxation)
  • presenting detailed feedback of on-camera and studio performance using video and audio recordings of practice sessions
  • developing delegates' understanding of what journalists want from a story and how best to gain and maintain control of interview
  • offering advice on how to handle difficult situations/handling conflict/confrontational interviewers
  • providing tips on constructing effective sound bites.

Our media training courses are generally one or two-day courses which involve very practical workshops, role play and one-to-one recording and filming opportunities and feedback. We will provide training course materials, and refreshments.
