All CBJ lecturers have substantial experience in broadcasting and / or print journalism, many having worked in more than one branch of the media. Part-time staff combine their lecturing with ongoing work in the industry, and experienced practitioners visit to give talks and assist with teaching of students.

Robin Staniforth - Director of the Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism
Robin Staniforth was a journalist for 25 years working in TV, radio and print with the BBC, ITN and Reuters. He studied Russian and worked for a year on the English language edition of Moscow News in the Soviet Union before joining the BBC as a graduate news trainee. In 1977 he joined Reuters to become a Paris correspondent, returning to London in 1980 to join Independent TV News (ITN) where he stayed for 20 years working successively on News at Ten scriptwriting, reporting, field producing and finally as foreign editor. He took up the post of director of the Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism at Nottingham Trent University in 2006.

Carole Fleming - Programme Leader, BA (Hons) Broadcast Journalism
Senior Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism. A former print and radio journalist with experience in both commercial and BBC radio, her research interests and recent publications examine Internet journalism, radio in the UK and the role of women in journalism.

Dave Welford - Programme Leader, MA/PgD Newspaper Journalism
Senior Lecturer in Journalism specialising in all aspects of newspaper journalism. Responsible also for coordinating the provision of media placement across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Chris Crawford - Senior Lecturer in Print Journalism and Course Leader for BA (Hons) Print Journalism
A former print journalist with extensive experience of reporting and sub-editing at a number of newspapers.

Amanda Ball - Senior Lecturer in Media Law and Public Administration
Teaching media law, ethics and regulation and public administration on both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Chairs the NCTJ's Public Affairs Board and is the NCTJ's Chief Examiner in Photography Law. Her main research interest and recent publications are in journalism education and training.

Emma Hemmingway - Senior Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism
Dr Hemmingway teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules and supervises PhDs. A bi-media journalist with 12 years experience with the BBC in TV production, reporting and documentary production, she was awarded her PhD in 2007, has published several research articles, book chapters and a research monograph, Into the Newsroom. Her research interests include media technologies, digital news production and actor network theory.

Catherine Adams - Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism
A bi-media journalist teaching mainly on the practical modules. Catherine has worked as a print radio and TV journalist and has been involved in local, regional and international news output.

Dora Johnson - Tutor in Business Administration
Teaching Teeline Shorthand, an established element of the newspaper journalism programme.
Shaun McMann - Lecturer in Critical Media Theory
His main teaching fields are media theory, sociology and critical psychology. He is currently researching the role of further education in the rehabilitation of life-sentence prisoners.

Jeremy Tatman - Lecturer in Critical Media Theory
His main teaching fields are media theory, popular culture and sociology and he has research interests in Gestalt Psychotherapy.

Barry Turner - Lecturer in Media Law and Public Administration
His research interests are science in the media, health journalism, criminal investigation and all aspects of the historical development of reporting as an influence on the development of society.

Andrew James – Senior Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism
Formerly a bi-media journalist and working in news and sport for BBC in the East Midlands, Andrew has almost 30 years experience in sports reporting with programmes including Match of the Day, Grandstand, Final Score, Sky Sports News and UEFA.com. His extensive news experience includes Radio 1 Newsbeat and BBC Breakfast News, Independent Local Radio and provincial newspapers. Module Leader for Sports Journalism and a Senior Lecturer in Television and Radio Broadcasting.

Ann Charlton – Senior Lecturer, BA (Hons) Print Journalism
Ann began her training in local newspapers in 1988 and qualified as a senior journalist two years later after passing the then NCTJ Proficiency Test. Following stints as a reporter and news editor on regional newspapers she joined Yorkshire Television in Leeds where she worked as a reporter and producer on the Calendar news programme. In 2000 she became a freelance producer for GMTV before returning to regional newspapers as a deputy editor. Ann previously taught newspaper journalism on NCTJ-accredited courses at Sheffield College prior to taking up her post at Nottingham Trent University in September 2009.
Engineers

Stephen Ludlam - Facilities Coordinator
A member of the engineering team, Stephen has specific responsibility for facilities management at the Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism. The role involves coordinating a whole range of facility related functions, including the delivery of effective equipment provision to support staff and student activities and overseeing general building maintenance.

Stephen Coates - Senior Media Engineer
A member of the engineering team, providing training and technical support across all practical elements of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as corporate training. His work has a special emphasis on digital audio and video editing. He also has responsibility for IT, researching technological developments and resource purchasing.

John McShane - Media Engineer
A member of the engineering team, providing training and technical support across all practical elements of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as corporate training.

James Baker
A member of the engineering team, providing training and technical support across all practical elements of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as corporate training. His work has a special emphasis on digital audio and video.
