Reading groups/research workshops and seminars
The Centre has run a regular series of seminars and workshops which have attracted staff and postgraduates from Nottingham Trent University and other universities. From 2002 onwards the focus has been on rethinking cultural theory. Key areas of focus have been:
- Ricoeur on narrative and identity
- Heidegger on technology and art
- the project of Hannah Arendt
- the aesthetic of Lyotard.
A whole year was devoted to the examination of theoretical issues arising from the place of religion in contemporary life. A number of workshops and seminars have also been organised around the TCS New Encyclopaedia Project.
