Communications, Culture and Media
Research is organised within the Institute for Cultural Analysis, Nottingham (ICAn). Its mission is the analysis of contemporary cultural phenomena, particularly within the contexts of the globalization process; diasporic cultures; the arts; cinema and cultural industries; emergent forms of identity; discursive strategies; the applications and implications of new media technologies; and new cultures of public life.

The results of the UK’s 2008 Research Assessment Exercise have placed NTU amongst the leading institutions for research in Media, Communications and Cultural Studies, with 70% of its research being rated as world leading or of international excellence.

ICAn is the home of Cultural, Communications and Media research at Nottingham Trent University.

The TCS Centre was established in 1996 to develop a programme of activities around the journal Theory, Culture & Society.

The Strategy in Communication Group (SinC) is based in the linguistics section of the School of Arts and Humanities of Nottingham Trent University.
