Creative Writing MA lecturer has poetry collection published
Dr. Sarah Jackson's poetry collection 'Pelt' was published in May 2012 by Bloodaxe. Sarah was also a guest on Radio 3's The Verb earlier in the month.
Creative Writing MA graduate shortlisted for Commonwealth Book Prize
NTU graduate, Kerry Young, has been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Book Prize 2012 for her novel, 'Pao' (Bloomsbury).
New visiting professor for NTU's Creative Writing department
Writer William Ivory will be joining the MA in Creative Writing as a Visiting Professor from October 2012. William is one of Britain's leading film, television and theatre writers, and is author of works such as 'Common as Muck' (1994-1997) and 'Made in Dagenham' (2010).
Professor's collection shortlisted for East Midlands Book Award 2011
Professor Gregory Woods' collection 'An Ordinary Dog' (Carcanet) has been shortlisted for the East Midlands Book Award 2011.

David Belbin's latest novel, 'What You Don't Know', is published on 3 May by Tinal Street Press.

Mark Goodwin, a 2002 graduate of NTU's MA in Creative Writing, has won the East Midlands Book Award 2010 for his poetry collection, Shod. The East Midlands Book Award is an independent annual award for the best book published in the previous year by an East Midlands writer. The aim of the award is to promote exceptional writers living in the East Midlands, and to develop the high profile of the literary scene in the region. The prize of £1,000 may be awarded to writers of Fiction (including Children's and Young Adult Fiction), Creative Non-Fiction, or Poetry.
"Creator of magic" wins international literature award - 25 March 2010
Nottingham Trent University visiting professor, David Almond, has been awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest international prize in children's literature, for his work as "a creator of magic realism for children".

Fantasy writer Graham Joyce picks up the best novel prize at the British Fantasy awards for his book Memoirs of a Master Forger.

2006 Creative Writing MA graduate, Frances Thimann has had her first collection of short stories published by Pewter Rose Press. Cello and Other Stories depicts age as perceived directly by those at the end of life and indirectly by those around them.
Roberta Dewa has collection of short stories published - 30 June 2009
2007 Creative Writing MA graduate Roberta Dewa will have her collection of short stories published by Pewter Rose Press at the end of June in time for the Lowdham Festival.
In Holding Stones the past is very much part of the present for the characters in the book. It provides the raw material for the memories that hold together their sense of who they are and where they belong. Roberta wrote some of the stories during her time on the MA course and really appreciated the feedback and discussions during her time there.

2005 Creative Writing MA graduate Claire Tulloch, who was in the first year of David Belbin's Children's and Young Adult Fiction module has had her first novel published by Five Leaves. Drowned is a dark tale about the death of a young boy in 1980's Ireland.
Graduate Rob Hann wins Impress Prize for Non-Fiction - 5 May 2009
2008 NTU Creative Writing MA graduate Rob Hann has won the prestigious Impress Prize for Non-Fiction with the story of his father's wartime experiences in the SAS, which Rob only discovered after his father's death.

The O. Henry Award is the only yearly award in The US given to short stories of exceptional merit. The award is named after the American master of the form, O. Henry.

Tim Roth to don wings as Skellig - 16 September 2008
Sky1 has signed up Oscar nominees Tim Roth and Kelly MacDonald as well as Life on Mars star John Simm for its new feature-length drama Skellig. The 120-minute "modern fairytale", which is based on David Almond's Whitbread Children's Award-winning novel, is the first project to commence production from Sky1's new £10m-plus drama investment fund.
Lowdham Festival - 12 May 2008
NTU is sponsoring the Lowdham Book Festival again this year. The Festival is in its ninth year and is going to be held between 21 and 28 June 2008.
The NTU Sponsored session, Publishing and writing today with DJ Taylor, will take place on Wednesday 25 June, 8.00pm-9.30pm, Festival Marquee.

Nicola Monaghan's second novel Starfishing is out! - 9 May 2008
Nicola Monaghan, who graduated on the MA Creative Writing at Nottingham Trent University in 2004, recently published her second novel Starfishing.
Nicola’s debut novel The Killing Jar has been critically acclaimed and she was included in The Independent newspaper’s new year list of rising talent.
In her second novel, Nicola moves her focus from a Nottingham council estate to the City of London.
MA Graduate wins Best First Novel Award - 12 July 2007
Nicola Monaghan, a recent graduate of Nottingham Trent University's MA in Creative Writing, has won this year’s Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award.
National Short Story Prize - 11 July 2007
Visiting Professor David Almond was the runner-up in this year's National Short Story Prize. His story Slog's Dad was commissioned by the Newcastle-based agency New Writing North following a conference devoted to the short story, especially two great masters of the form, Anton Chekhov and Raymond Carver.
