Pre-sessional English
Overview
If you do not meet the English language requirements of your chosen degree, our Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (PEAP) courses will help you to achieve the necessary standard. We offer a wide range of courses, from six to thirty weeks depending on your ability and level of language required to progress onto your destination course. Students are also welcome to apply who have no plans to continue their studies with an undergraduate or postgraduate course.
Students will need to provide some proof of their current language level in order to be accepted. The course is not suitable for complete beginners in English. Students for courses which need a higher entry level than IELTS 6.5 should be guided by their university department as to what preparation they need.

If you are thinking about where to live during your PEAP studies at NTU, then please read the information below.
NTU Accommodation
We have a variety of student accommodation based on each campus. Please be aware that the accommodation is very popular and is therefore booked very quickly. As we cannot guarantee the availability of our rooms, we advise you to look at the different options available.
Homestay Accommodation
You can also choose to live with a family from our large network of host families in Nottingham. Expect to pay approximately £110 a week, which includes breakfast, evening meals and lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Generally we recommend that you pay for one week at a time to make sure that you are happy and comfortable living with that family.
If you are interested in homestay, please contact Nottingham Language Centre at least three weeks before the start of your course.
Please note that we will be unable to secure you any accommodation until you have received an unconditional offer for your PEAP course.
