Legal and Governance Services

The Legal Services unit provides expert professional support to the university in several key areas:

• Obtaining legal opinion & instructing lawyers
• Drafting/advising on agreements/legal documentation
• Maintaining a bank of precedents and template documents
• Originating and holding NTU-wide policies
• Managing Freedom of Information and Data Protection enquiries
• Managing formal complaints & disputes, including those made via the OIA
• Managing the University's Trade Marks
• Fielding ad hoc legal queries

The Governance Services unit is responsible for managing the administration of the University's Governance framework, including the work of the Board of Governors and its Committees, and for ensuring regulatory compliance with the formal Corporate Governance regulations that apply to institutions in the higher education sector.
