Online applications
All available vacancies within Nottingham Trent University (NTU) are advertised on this website. We do not accept speculative applications, so the only way you can apply for a position with the University is by applying for a specific vacancy. This site is for both internal and external candidates, so you may come across vacancies, which, if you are not a current employee of NTU, you will not be eligible to apply for.
Online applications
- To apply for a vacancy follow the Apply Online link within your chosen vacancy advert.
- If you use assistive technologies, such as screen reader software, then you may not be able to complete the online process. Please contact us if you require application details in alternative formats (e.g. braille, large print).
- You will need to register using an email address and password before proceeding to the application itself. This applies to both current employees and external applicants.
- The online application process takes you through a number of screens, with instructions on how to complete the section included where necessary. These screens allow you to provide us with the information that we need to process your application and comply with our statutory reporting responsibilities. Please note that you can also upload 5 documents (1MB maximum each document), in support of your application such as a CV, but please ensure that you only include relevant information. The application process consists of the following screens:
- Personal details - Name, address, etc.
- Education - School/University details
- Qualifications
- Memberships of professional bodies
- Training courses - Opportunity to let us know of any relevant training you have undertaken
- Current employer details
- Previous employment
- References
- Attach documents - Upload supporting documents here that explain how your skills and experience are relevant to this position
- Equal opportunities data - Gender, ethnic origin, etc.
- Declaration and other details - National Insurance number, eligibility to work, etc.
- Submit application - Final opportunity to review application and submit.
- You have the opportunity to change any of the information entered into your application before you submit it by using the progress bar labelled one to twelve on the top of every page. There is also an opportunity at the end of the process to revisit the information provided. Once submitted though, your application cannot be changed.
- For your application to be successfully submitted you must complete the full process, but it is not necessary to complete your entire application in one session. You can suspend an application and return to it at a later date. By using your email address and password you can sign in and out at your convenience. Please ensure that your final application has been submitted before the vacancy closing date as forms received after this time will not be considered.
- It is important that you complete the application accurately. If you provide false information or deliberately omit relevant facts, it may result in:
- disqualification from the selection process
- dismissal, if the false/missing information is discovered after you are appointed.
- There is a 30 minute timeout on the website. You will be logged out after 30 minutes of inactivity, and you will lose any application details that have not been saved.
- Do not complete the application form using multiple browser windows as this can lead to unpredictable results and may mean that your application is not submitted correctly.
- Please avoid the use of any special characters other than commas, full stops and spaces. This also applies to the file name of your supporting document(s) - we suggest you use your surname to avoid any problems. Please do not include any spaces in the filename - this may prevent you from submitting your application.
- We suggest you prepare any supporting documents prior to beginning the online application process.
- If you close your browser at any stage, before you have completed the process, you will lose any application details that have not been saved.
- All vacancies have a link to .pdf versions of the job description and person specification that contain additional details regarding the role.
- You will hear from the recruiter directly if you are to be called for interview.
Equal opportunities monitoring
All job applicants are asked to complete the equal opportunities page which requests details on gender, race, religion/belief and disability. This allows the University to gather equal opportunities data at the application, shortlisting and appointment stages of the recruitment process, for the purposes of evaluating:
- The effectiveness and fairness of the University’s recruitment and selection procedures from an equality perspective
- The impact of our Equal Opportunities Policy
- How well our recruitment methods are working and how they can be improved.
Recruitment monitoring is conducted anonymously and your equal opportunities information is not shown to any member of the selection panel.
The University has committed to interviewing all applicants with a disability who meet all the essential criteria for a job vacancy and will consider them on their abilities.
Applications in alternative formats
Our preferred method of receiving applications is via the online form, but if you require documentation in alternative formats (e.g. Braille, large print) please email with your contact details and requirements and we will get in touch with you.
Further information for applicants
References will be taken up for candidates at the job offer stage. We will always contact you by email or post should your application not be successful.
If you have any comments or queries regarding application procedures, please email us.
