Paper submissions

The 10th International Conference on Military Geosciences (ICMG) welcomes contributions from all who are interested in military geosciences. The conference has an open theme and therefore welcomes presentations on any research in and around military geosciences. In particular, we are interested in the following themes:

  • rebellions and the military reactions
 towards the Great War

  • military geoscience and Scotland

  • military geoscience through the lens / technology

  • geography, peacekeeping and disaster relief

  • ethics and military geoscience

  • other related themes.

All submissions will be reviewed on a double blind basis. Initially you are required to submit an abstract limited to 500 words by the deadline given above. The accepted abstracts will be invited to submit a full paper with maximum 4,000 words in length, including tables and figures that will be reviewed again for a final paper submission.

The accepted final papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings, and the authors will be invited to make a 20 minute presentation followed by a five minute Q&A session at the conference.

The best papers will be published in a Special Journal Issue.

Abstract submissions
To make a submission, please create an account with our online conference system and submit an abstract by the deadline given.

Please follow the instructions to obtain an account and after you log in please select "New Submission" from the menu and complete the form, including your abstract which is limited to 500 words. If you wish, you may include references in your abstract.

Full paper submissions
Selected papers will be invited to submit a full paper.

To prepare a full paper submission please carefully follow the guidelines to prepare a camera-ready submission for the second round of the review process.

The full paper should be 4,000 words of a maximum length including the title, the abstract and the references. Full colour figures and tables can be included in the text. Please hide the authors’ names and affiliations and submit an anonymous full paper for the review purposes. Please download and follow the full paper formatting guidelines template (in a Word file) here.

After you prepare your full paper according to the guidelines, please return to the online conference system to make your full paper submission.

Final paper submissions
To be included in the Conference Proceedings it is crucial to meet the deadlines. To make final paper submission, please submit your camera-ready final paper and the copyright form to the conference team by the submission deadline.

The camera-ready paper should be prepared according to the paper formatting guidelines, as well as including authors' names and affiliations.

Copyright Form will be available to download shortly.

To schedule your presentation you need to register for the conference before 30 April 2013.

Poster and oral presentations

The poster session will be ongoing throughout the conference and currently has no fixed submission deadline with proposals being evaluated on a rolling basis.

Oral presentations are part of the main programme, 20 minutes in length with 10 minutes of questions and answers, the submission deadline being 29 March.

Proposals for both poster and oral presentations should take the form of a short abstract emailed directly to the conference office.

Successful presenters should also register to attend the conference.
