Unified Communications – Installing and commissioning new services
New IP Phone Handsets
New phones are scheduled to be delivered and commissioned to the remaining buildings on the City Campus.
The work falls into four parts:
- We complete a new survey of the existing telephones and faxes.
- We deliver the new handsets.
- We commission the new service and activate your new handsets.
- We come back and remove your old phones.
You can expect to receive email messages from us to confirm the exact dates for each stage and the CPLD team will invite you to training courses for your new handsets and for the new voicemail system.

For the installation to be completed, you will need to re-start your computer and you may notice that your computer will take a few moments longer than usual to get to the log in prompt. Anti-virus trial
The computers on 4th floor Boots Library are currently trialling some new anti-virus products.
Depending on the computer you use on this floor, the anti-virus product will either be eTrust, Kasperski or Forefront, the product used by the computer will show as an icon in the system tray.
The anti-virus products will be set up to work in the same way. They will actively detect infected files and will report any infections and quarantine any files that they find. Full scheduled scans will also continue.
It’s quite likely that you won't notice any difference at all while this trial in on going. If you experience any problems with the computer and the anti virus product, please go to the Boots Library Information Desk in the first instance.
