Meet the Mentors

Alan Abela
Alan Abela

Hi! I am Alan Abela and I am a mature postgraduate student researching the energy performance of Mediterranean housing. I am originally from Malta and currently half way through my studies.

I am offering mentoring in writing as I am well aware that structuring and putting down thoughts on paper can be a challenge for any level of student, but particularly first year undergraduates. As an engineering graduate I am also quite willing to offer maths support whenever it might be required.

I know what it is like to be faced with an assignment and not have a clue where to start, so I hope that I will be able to use my experience to point students in the right direction and help them find the tools they need to enjoy the university challenge!

Shea O’Sullivan
Shea O’Sullivan

Hi! my name is Shea O'Sullivan and I am currently studying a BEng. in Civil Engineering. I am going into my final year after completing a placement with a company called Volkerfitzpatrick.

The areas of mentoring I am most interested in are supporting students to develop their maths; structuring, and report writing, as these are key elements of my course.

Becoming a mentor is about helping others who just need pointing in the right direction. On arriving at university, the different ways of working and the increased workload can be quite overwhelming, but as a mentor I feel I will to be able to help fellow students to achieve beyond their expectations.
