Meet the Mentors

My name is Andrea Denovellis and I am about to enter the final year of my law degree.
I am interested in how to write academically, in a clear and concise manner.
I want to be a student mentor so I can help other students make the transition to university that little bit easier.

My name is Dane Proctor and I have just finished my law degree at NTU. I am about to start the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School.
I have been a writing mentor for the last year and was keen to continue with mentoring after I finished my degree.
My main areas of interest as a writing mentor are how to approach different types of questions and helping students to understand the importance of referencing in order to gain maximum marks.
I am passionate about the mentoring scheme because I know how difficult it can be to adjust to university life. I can also advise students about the different styles of academic writing required, depending on the question posed. I want to help students to answer questions effectively and to the best of their abilities.

My name is Ian Slack and I am currently a third year Law student.
Since coming to Nottingham Law School, I have developed a real passion for answering report and essay style problem scenarios and coursework assignments. It is always a challenge to write concisely enough to meet the relevant word and time limits while also maintaining the necessary detail to achieve first class marks.
I want to be a student mentor because I have a strong passion to help others to develop their own skills, processes and writing styles so that they can achieve their goals.

My name is Vicky and I have just graduated from NTU with a degree in Law. I am now doing the Legal Practice Course with Nottingham Law School.
I am a writing mentor and the part of mentoring I enjoy most is meeting new people and being able to help them with different aspects of academic writing.
In my first year I struggled to get to grips with all the different styles of writing, like report writing, essay writing and answering problem questions. So it's good now to be able to help other people work through these issues and boost their grades.
