Clifton Library reception
  • Welcome to the Clifton Library. The library is located within the George Eliot building. Use your University Smartcard to gain access and to borrow library materials.
  • There are a number of Group Study Rooms in the library. Rooms may be booked for use at the Information Desk. Laptops may also be borrowed for use in the library.
  • Information about opening hours, borrowing allowances and much more is available at our website.
Student at PC
  • There are PCs available for use throughout the library, giving access to the Internet, email and Microsoft Office applications. A number of machines include access to assistive technologies. The library is a wireless zone.
  • The resource rooms are located within the George Eliot building and are open 24 / 7. Printing and scanning facilities are available.
Clifton Library self service area
  • The library has self-service issue and return machines. Swipe your University Smartcard to borrow and return books. Staff at the Information Desk can provide assistance.
  • Photocopiers are available on both floors. You can pay for your photocopying using your University Smartcard.
  • Help and assistance is available at the Information Desk. For more detailed subject enquiries, you will be referred to a Liaison Librarian.
Soft seating area
  • The Short Loan Collection is located adjacent to the Information Desk. The collection houses DVDs and items in heavy demand. Most items can be borrowed overnight or for four hours.
  • The library is divided into three study zones: red (silent); amber (quiet conversation); and green (talking permitted) to provide appropriate study environments. The study zone on the Ground Floor is amber.
  • On the Ground Floor, you will find books with shelfmarks from 700-900.
Bookshelves
  • Journals are for use in the library only, but you can photocopy articles, in colour if necessary, using your University Smartcard. Remember many journals and databases are also available online.
  • Current issues are displayed in shelfmark order and the back issues are arranged alphabetically by title.
  • The Education Placement Resource Collection includes children's fiction and non-fiction books which Education students may borrow for use in schools.
