Overview

The Division of Accounting and Finance is the second largest within NBS and offers a vibrant and challenging environment for students and staff. We offer a range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level which contain a unique blend of both the theoretical and practical perspectives on the disciplines of accounting and finance. In large part this is provided by the wealth of professional accounting experience that tutors bring to the teaching of their respective disciplines. Our division has a longstanding national reputation for producing graduates with the necessary skills and competence. This provides the foundation for our enviable reputation for graduate employability and career progression.

We work closely with employers within the accounting profession and across all sectors of the economy in offering educational and training opportunities. From this experience we are then able to generate quality internships for undergraduates together with research and consultancy opportunities for staff. Our BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree allows students to gain significant exemption from various professional body examinations.

We have a strong presence in delivering courses to the public sector. We are a recognised centre of excellence for the teaching of the Chartered Institute of Public Financial Accountants (CIPFA). We consistently achieve the very highest of pass rates and prizes and our tutors on the course have received awards from CIPFA in recognition of the quality of the tuition they provide.
