Accreditation services
An accreditation service is available for organisations that currently have internal management development activities and wish to benchmark these against a university award or qualification. We can also design and deliver other learning and development to sit alongside internal provision to complete a qualification.
Case study: developing and accrediting professional standards
Prior to 1999 trainee examiners in this high profile and national professional service organisation were required to complete the foundation stages of an external accountancy qualification. It became increasingly apparent to the organisation that it needed to have its own unique qualification that would better serve its business needs.
Design
To satisfy the demand for a more directly relevant qualification framework that was linked to the career progression of its professional practitioners (Examiners), we worked in partnership with the organisation to design and develop a set of professional occupational awards based upon assessing competency, knowledge and understanding and interpersonal skills.
Delivery
A principle benefit of this approach was that it provided a clear focus for the organisation's training resources. By concentrating on training designed to improve on-the-job performance through the articulation of clearly defined competencies, knowledge and skills, its staff were not only able to perform their duties to a higher professional standard, but also attain a sector-specific qualification at the same time.
Impact and value
When the first cohort began studying for the Diploma, the concept of work-based competency assessment within The Service was relatively unknown. Now, four years later, the practice is firmly embedded in The Service's culture, and this has been further strengthened with the introduction of new programmes and awards for both examiners and administrative staff.
