Launch of region's bioscience knowledge exchange initiative

BioKneX, the new bioscience knowledge exchange initiative for the East Midlands, will be officially launched on November 22. Professor Peter Jones, Pro Vice-Chancellor at BioKneX partner, Nottingham Trent University, will be among the guest speakers during the event at BioCity.

BioKneX has been established to enhance collaboration and partnering between the region’s universities, industry and education system, and to publicise bioscience excellence. The initiative was set up after funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to Nottingham Trent University, The University of Nottingham and The University of Leicester, with further funding from the East Midlands Development Agency and the European Union.

Steve Beasley, CEO of BioKneX, said: “The East Midlands offers world-class research and a great opportunity for its commercialisation. bioKneX will facilitate this commercialisation through effective knowledge exchange, collaborations, partnerships, and helping to identify investment opportunities within the region and beyond. This initiative will bring together researchers, commerce, investors and suppliers to augment the growth of biotech and biomedical competence in the region.”
