An evening with Tim Stockdale... Show jumping explained (March 1, 2006 at 7pm)
International show jumper, Tim Stockdale, is to give a lecture and demonstration to an audience in the new galleried seating area of Nottingham Trent University’s Brackenhurst Equestrian Centre.
During the event at the University’s Brackenhurst campus, the British Show Jumping Association (BSJA) board member will explain the techniques required for successful show jumping and demonstrate using three of his horses.
Born and bred in Nottinghamshire, Tim has represented Britain 35 times on Nations Cup teams and was selected for the World Equestrian Games in 2002. His road to international show jumping honours began as an enthusiastic seven-year-old at Nottinghamshire’s Grove Pony Club. It was there that the first inklings of a special riding skill were recognised and his talent encouraged.
After leaving school, Tim worked for Mike Saywell at Retford, Nottinghamshire, and then seized the opportunity to work as a second jockey to the acclaimed rider, Graham Fletcher. After working and training for two other professionals, John Taylor and Lutz Meyerding, Tim now runs his own yard in Northamptonshire.
Dean of the University’s School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences, Professor Dave Butcher, said: “We’re delighted that Tim is coming here to allow us to benefit from his experience and expertise as a top show jumper. It’s just the kind of event the new galleried seating area was created for and I’m sure it will be a fantastic demonstration.”
Tickets are available from January 2006: Adults £18, children under 16, £15.
