An evening with Richard Davison and the Hiscox Dressage Team, 25 May 2006, at 7.30pm
International dressage rider, Richard Davison, is to give a lecture and demonstration to an audience in the galleried seating area of Nottingham Trent University’s Brackenhurst Equestrian Centre.
During the event at the University’s Brackenhurst campus, Richard will demonstrate the techniques required for successful dressage using four of his horses, from the young horse to international level. Accompanying Richard will be his wife, Gill, who herself has competed to International Grand Prix level, and one of his pupils, allowing Richard to demonstrate training exercises and test riding tips.
Living in Staffordshire but originally from Nottingham, Richard is one of the UK’s leading dressage riders and has competed in two World Equestrian Games, three European Championships, four World Cup finals and three Olympic Games.
“I don’t like to think of myself as a dressage rider but more as a professional horseman”, says Richard, who moved into dressage early in his career as his reputation developed for schooling show jumpers and eventers.
Dean of the University’s School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences, Professor Dave Butcher, said: “We’re delighted that Richard is coming here to allow us to benefit from his experience and expertise as a leading dressage rider. As the second in our event series for 2006, we’re looking forward to an excellent demonstration.”
