Design students set for River Island Graduate Fashion Week (3 - 6 June)
Final year students from Nottingham Trent University’s School of Art and Design are preparing to showcase their creative talent as part of this year’s River Island Graduate Fashion Week. An array of innovative design, management, business and marketing skills will grace the London event, which will profile the very best work by the fashion industry’s stars of tomorrow.
The Nottingham Trent University designers have created an aura of freshness on the catwalk this year, with inspirational collections combining directional fashion with outstanding levels of confidence, passion, and professionalism.
The work on show will reflect and uphold the renowned high standard of design talent at the university. The School of Art and Design has an internationally established reputation for shaping innovation and creativity hand in-hand with the very real demands of the 21st century fashion industry; graduates regularly go on to work across a broad range of areas for designer labels and high street retailers alike.
Fashion scouts from the UK and overseas will attend the event, which includes a static exhibition and two fashion theatres hosting 20 shows. Nottingham Trent University will be the opening show at the catwalk event this year and the whole exhibition will culminate with the glamorous Gala Fashion Show and Awards.
The University’s exhibition stand will encompass the theme of ‘hands-on’, with design handwriting incorporating elements of folding, taping and revealing.
Each area will be forward-looking and commercially aware, illustrating why the University is ranked first in art and design for the number of students gaining course-related work placements. The students showing at the event have been closely involved in the entire creative and organisational process; from concepts and innovative directions, to prototyping, garment creation, event marketing, catwalk organisation and stand design.
