Creator of renowned business philosophy to visit Nottingham

Educator, author, scientist, philosopher and business leader, Dr Eli Goldratt, is to visit Nottingham Trent University to talk about his world-famous Theory of Constraints (TOC) management philosophy. Dr Goldratt, who is based in Israel, will give an explanation of TOC to business and academic contacts during his first visit to the University’s Nottingham Business School on 27 June.

TOC is an overall framework for helping businesses determine what to change, what to change to, and how to cause that change. The idea was introduced in Dr Goldratt’s best-seller The Goal, a business textbook written in novel form about overcoming the barriers to making money.

The event has come about because the Goldratt Group, founded by Dr Goldratt, co-sponsors the University’s pioneering MSc Theory of Constraints (Health and Social Care Management). The day after his talk Dr Goldratt will be devoting a day to the students on this master’s programme.

Senior Lecturer in Operations Management at the University, Roy Stratton, said: “We’re really excited about Dr Goldratt coming to contribute to the MSc programme as well as enabling us to offer this open meeting to industry. I am sure attendees will benefit greatly from hearing his talk on how the Theory of Constraints can help achieve a breakthrough in performance.”

Notes for editors: The event is being held at the University’s Djanogly International Centre in Nottingham.

The MSc Theory of Constraints (Health and Social Care Management) is also co-sponsored by QFI Consulting, an affiliate of the Goldratt Group.
