Graduation ceremonies get under way
More than 3,700 former students are being presented with awards as part of Nottingham Trent University’s degree ceremonies this week. The class of 2007 also includes almost 30 recipients gaining PhDs for pioneering research.
Latest statistics show that almost 98 per cent of Nottingham Trent University graduates with first degrees from full-time study are employed, engaged in further study or pursuing other personal ambitions six months after leaving the university. It’s a track record which has seen the university take joint first place for graduate employment rates among the multi-discipline universities in England and Wales.
The figures, from the Higher Education Statistics Agency, are a special cause for celebration as almost 15,000 people gather in Nottingham for four days of festivities marking the achievements our the university’s latest graduates.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Neil Gorman, said that Nottingham Trent University had an outstanding reputation with employers for producing well-rounded and high-calibre graduates who can make a contribution from day one in their chosen profession.
He added: “The employability of our graduates derives not only from what they learn in the classroom, the laboratory and the library, but also from what they learn through their engagement with university life. They leave Nottingham Trent University with confidence, independence, leadership and team-working skills, ready to begin an even deeper engagement with society.
“This is a real turning-point for all graduates celebrating their new qualifications. They’ve come a long way but they will be going even further.”
