Quartet of lecturers to join law school
The appointment of four new lecturers has strengthened Nottingham Law School’s position as one of the largest and most diverse law schools in the UK. Professors David Burdette and Rebecca Parry, along with Gary Wilson and Dr Jonathan Doak, bring with them a wealth of expertise and experience to the school, part of Nottingham Trent University.
Professor Burdette, coming to Nottingham from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, specialises in commercial law with a particular emphasis on insolvency and corporate restructuring; while Professor Parry specialises in corporate and insolvency law and is coming from the University of Leicester. She is a Nottingham Trent University alumna, having studied her Diploma in Legal Practice at the university between 1993 and 1994.
Gary Wilson, from Keele University, is an expert in corporate law and business regulation, and is a Nottingham Trent University alumnus, having gained his professional postgraduate qualification from the university in 1986. Jonathan Doak, from Sheffield University, has criminal law and criminal justice, with particular emphasis on victims’ rights, as his research area.
All are set to join Nottingham Law School at the start of the new academic year next month, except Jonathan who will join later in the year.
“These are excellent appointments which will significantly enhance the work of Nottingham Law School’s Centre for Legal Research, as well as the School’s research profile,” said Mary Seneviratne, Head of Research at Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University.
“They also reflect the university’s recognition of the strength of our research mission and the postgraduate teaching activity associated with it,” she added.
