University applications continue to rise
Applications to study on Nottingham Trent University’s undergraduate degree courses have increased by more than any other UK university, new figures revealed this week. Latest UCAS figures show how the University’s overall applications have increased by 10.3%, despite applicants being limited to just five choices of institution this year instead of the previous six. There has been a drop of 7.3% across the sector.
In addition, the number of individual applicants applying to study at the University has risen by 10.8%, again above the sector’s rise of 8.9%. Although still early in the applications process, these figures continue to build on last year’s success when the University increased its overall recruitment by 17%.
The University is currently the 18th most popular UK university in terms of applications received, and is one of only two universities in the top 30 to show an increase in the number of applications this year.
Nottingham Trent University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Neil Gorman, said: "We are delighted with this increase in our application figures, which is above the current national figure. It is particularly pleasing that of all UK universities, we have seen the largest increase in applications to undergraduate degree courses.
"This rise supports the fact that students continue to be attracted to Nottingham Trent University's excellent employability record - which is one of the best in the UK - and significant links to business. It is also a reflection of the hard work that the University has put into its recruitment process."
