World renowned fashion expert to speak to students
Design Guru and “Red or Dead” fashion label founder, Wayne Hemingway, will be making a special visit to speak at Nottingham Trent University on Tuesday, February 5.
The visit will provide a unique opportunity for students to hear from a man whose experience in the world of fashion and design has earned him a reputation as a leading light in the fashion industry. As part of the visit, Wayne will also be discussing the new “Land of Lost Content” (LOLC) project, which provides online access to the world’s most extensive collection of 20th century popular culture publications and images. Nottingham Trent University is one of the very first subscribers to a new student version of the database.
Peter Wright, a Nottingham Trent University lecturer and organiser of Wayne’s visit to the university said: “To have Wayne here sharing his experiences and knowledge with our students is a real privilege. His passion for his work and his understanding of the needs of the industry make him an iconic figure within the history of modern fashion and design.
"With our students representing the future of the industry, it will be a great opportunity for them to gain insights from someone with such a depth and breadth of experience.”
Wayne’s experiences and stories from the world of fashion and design will be attracting students from across Nottingham Trent University’s School of Art and Design, all eager to hear from a man whose global success and reputation was launched 26 years ago.

Notes for editors:
Recognising the fashion and design industries need for an organised, comprehensive and digitised collection of materials, Wayne teamed up with Stella and Dave Mitchell, curators of the LOLC museum in Shropshire. By combining the existing LOLC materials with his own collection that spans a career from Red or Dead through to Hemingway Design, the resultant online archive of downloadable images is now the worlds largest collection of 20th and 21st century popular culture.
The new database which is expected to expand to universities across the country and provide students with the opportunity to make use of its contents within their own design work projects.
