Champion cheerleaders
A team of 35 ladies from Nottingham Trent University have won the British Cheerleaders Association (BCA) University Championship 2008. Held at the Telford International Centre, the girls topped the ‘all girl advanced’ category adding another trophy to an already impressive collection.
Established in 2004, Nottingham Trent University’s cheerleading squad has grown in strength and numbers over the years to become one of the university’s most popular student societies. Rousing support at numerous fixtures throughout the sporting season, the squad also make regular appearances at the annual Varsity Sports Series matches with the University of Nottingham.
Rosie Hase, captain of the winning squad, said: “It’s great to have won the competition. We practiced really hard for the event and are proud to have done so well.”
The cheerleaders are now busily preparing for a special display on the 21st April at Meadow Lane, Nottingham, for the annual Varsity rugby match against the University of Nottingham.
