School of Social Sciences appoints new Associate Dean
Ann Allen, head of the Division of Guidance, Youth Studies and Youth Justice at Nottingham Trent University has been appointed Associate Dean of the university’s School of Social Sciences.
A graduate from the University of Sheffield, Ann undertook a Diploma in Careers Guidance at Nottingham Trent University (then Trent Polytechnic) in 1980. She worked for twelve years in a variety of careers advisory roles, before joining the university as Senior Lecturer in Careers Guidance in 1993. She led the university’s Diploma in Careers Guidance before designing and leading the current Qualification in Career Guidance as part of a national pilot project.
Ann’s specialist knowledge in the fields of rational career planning and the strategic approaches to guidance interviewing has earned her and Nottingham Trent University national recognition. She has also developed expertise in the planning and design of career education and in the concepts used to underpin the study and practice of career education and guidance.
