Unique gift opportunity for Christmas shoppers

Christmas shoppers will have an opportunity to purchase work by a team of talented Nottingham fashion and textile designers on Saturday 20 December as part of a unique link-up between Nottingham Trent University and the city’s FH Mall. For one day only staff and graduates from the University’s prestigious fashion design and fashion knitwear design and knitted textiles courses will sell a range of inspired work from the shopping mall, on The Poultry near to the Old Market Square.

Designs – including contemporary accessories and individually created interior furnishings in soft Merino wool, high-quality felt and opulent leather – have been developed using both traditional and contemporary techniques, from detailed hand-crafting to high precision digital knitting and laser cutting technology.

"Shoppers will be able to pick up perfect Christmas gifts such as scarves, mittens, hats, bedsocks, cushions and bags, all in this season’s hottest colours," said Julie Pinches, Academic Team Leader for Fashion Knitwear and Textile Design in Nottingham Trent University’s School of Art and Design.

Some of the work for the ‘pop-up-shop’ has come via mADe@ntu, collections designed and produced using the expertise of both fashion knitwear design staff and graduates from the School of Art and Design. Profit from the range, which is usually sold online, is used to enhance and advance the facilities for students in the School.
