The Centre for Legal Research

The focus for research, and the various research groups, in the School is the Centre for Legal Research (CLR). The CLR was established in 1996, mainly to provide a focus for externally funded research and also to support the School's commitment to improving its RAE (Research Assessment Exercise) return.

Research in the Centre is organised and developed around six research groups:

The CLR was re-launched in 2006, with an expanded mission to promote, integrate and enhance research at all levels within Nottingham Law School. The mission recognises the importance of research for the School, particularly for the School's Academic Division, which has embedded research and research-led teaching within its mission and culture. Its success is evidenced by the number and quality of research grants and contracts it attracted, and by the fact that 60% of its research was judged to be of international standard in the recent RAE.

The CLR is the focus for legal research within the Law School. It is responsible for the management of research, academic postgraduate teaching, research-led teaching and research methods training. It is responsible for the organisation of the research seminar programme and for the publication of the Nottingham Law Journal.
