Collaborations

Expertise underpinned by a research culture

In contrast to other course providers, Nottingham Law School is a full-service law school with an established research division. External funders and collaborators regularly approach the School for research and advice. We were the sole research group providing legal expertise to the European Lifestyles and Marine Ecosystems (ELME) project. Under a £2.5million EC Sixth Framework Programme, this multidisciplinary and multinational project brought together marine scientists, environmental economists and other academics from 15 countries to model past and future environmental impact of human lifestyles on Europe’s regional seas.

The School also regularly collaborates with government bodies. In recent years, staff have been involved in a number of major government-funded projects, including (with the University of Cambridge) research that examined the operation of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Insolvency Service, as well as an evaluation of the Northern Ireland Youth Conferencing Service.
