For law and non-law graduates, Nottingham Law School offers three routes to qualification as a solicitor or barrister. These are driven by our unique experience of legal training at all levels and our strong practice links, which will ensure you the best start to your professional career.
Why study a professional course at NLS?
- The School has a reputation for excellence in delivering the LPC for intending solicitors, the BPTC (formerly the BVC) for intending barristers and the Graduate Diploma in Law conversion course for non-law graduates.
- You will have the option to study the GDL and LPC part-time, which will enable you to combine study with work and other commitments.
- We can offer you a dedicated careers and recruitment service, which will provide you with as much guidance and assistance as possible in your search for a training contract or pupillage.
- 95% of students who completed their GDL with us and then completed the LPC or BVC with us have secured a training contract, pupillage or paralegal work for the coming year.
- We offer an award winning pro bono programme , as well as a Legal Advice Clinic for the local community.
- As the Law School is part of a university, you will experience a community atmosphere unrivalled by professional providers. You will also have access to extensive student support services and sports facilities.
- Our LPC and BPTC students also now have the option to top up to an LLM in Professional Practice.
- If you achieve the LPC or BPTC via a non-law degree route, it is possible for Nottingham Law School to also award you a Graduate LLB.
