Law
The Law School has a large, active, highly skilled and internationally recognised research culture with 60% of its research being judged to be of international standard in the recent RAE. Three research centres provide the focus for research within the School:
- Centre for Legal Education
- Centre for Business and Insolvency Law
- Centre for Conflict, Rights and Justice
In addition, there are less formal research clusters in areas including Sports Law, Health Care Law, European Private Law and Property Law.
Our research has an impact on lives and society through its effect on people affected by the law and through its impact upon policy makers and practitioners. The methodologies utilised range from scholarship to empirical (including both qualitative and quantitative) research. Active researchers have many links in the UK and across the globe. The Law School has received external income for research from a number of sources, including the research councils, Government departments and the European Union.
The School has an excellent programme of research seminars, given by internal and external speakers. The School also publishes the , a peer-reviewed journal, published in two issues each year.
The research leader for the School is Professor Rebecca Parry, Director of Research, who, with the full-time professoriate, provides the research executive for the School.
