Physical Education and Sport

The goal of this research cluster is to draw together staff with a shared research interest in physical education and sport. It is multi-disciplinary in its outlook and encompasses a wide range of projects but with a core focus on the sporting experiences of young people in school and community settings.

The cluster works in partnership with range of organisation settings including FIFA, local authorities, national governing bodies of sport and schools. Specific research interests of staff span a diverse range of perspectives and projects including:

  • sports governance
  • sport and physical education policy evaluation
  • sport and social capital
  • sports development
  • disability sport research.
