Environmental Quality and Management Research
Our research focuses on monitoring environmental quality and processes, understanding biological interactions with the environment and managing human and business interactions with the environment.
Key areas of focus include:
- Technology transfer and training for environmental management practice and corporate social responsibility in business.
- Analysis of growing media, peat alternatives and the development of best practice in the composting of green waste.
- Understanding environmental pathways, uptake and partitioning of heavy metals derived from archaeological mining activities.
- Community analysis with respect to environmental quality in terrestrial and aquatic habitats.
- Bioremediation using microbial processes and understanding the role of bacteria in environmental processes.
Funding has been received from the UK Department of Trade and Industry, the European Regional Development Fund and the UK landfill tax credit scheme.
