Business
At Nottingham Business School, research is crucial in ensuring the vitality and health of the academic subjects we teach. There is a well embedded research culture that permeates across the school. Research not only serves to advance management knowledge, it underpins and enriches our teaching and learning.
Our commitment to research is reflected in the results of our Research Assessment Exercise in 2008. With more than 30 staff submitted, wel had one of the largest submissions for a post-1992 university and 80% of our work was graded as being of international standard, with a third graded in the top two bands of 3* (Internationally Excellent) and 4* (World Leading).
The emphasis on applied research is reflected in our staff being active in the Technology Strategy Board’s Knowledge Transfer Partnerships programme, where academics work on research projects with local companies from across the East Midlands region.
We have a well established PhD programme with more than 50 research students. As well as students on ESRC bursaries, we have sponsored PhDs drawn from a wide range of countries including: Jordan, Kenya, Libya, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Since 2004 we have gained a total of five PhD studentships from the ESRC, including two Collaborative Awards in Science and Engineering awards.
