Law
We have a large, active, highly skilled and internationally recognised research culture with 60% of our research being judged to be of international standard in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Three research centres provide the focus for our research:
- Centre for Legal Education
- Centre for Business and Insolvency Law
- Centre for Conflict, Rights and Justice
In addition, we have less formal research clusters in:
- sports law
- health care law
- European private law
- property law.
Our research has an impact on lives and society through its effect on people affected by the law and its impact upon policy makers and practitioners. The methodologies we use range from scholarship to empirical research (including both qualitative and quantitative).
Our researchers have many links in the UK and across the globe. We receive external income from a number of sources, including the research councils, Government departments and the European Union.
We have a programme of research seminars, given by internal and external speakers. We also publish two issues of a peer-reviewed journal each year.
