Chemistry
The Chemistry team offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses and innovative research. The team look at aspects of Analytical and Forensic Science, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. All of the chemistry undergraduate courses are recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) as satisfying the admission requirements for the category of Associate Member (AMRSC).
The MChem Chemistry, MChem Chemistry (part-time) and MChem Chemistry with Professional Practice courses are all accredited as satisfying the academic requirements for the award of the RSC professional status of CChem.

Research
Much of the research undertaken within the team is at the interface with the life sciences/biomedical sciences or materials/technology and there is active collaboration with members of staff from the other teams within the School of Science and Technology. Our research quality was confirmed in RAE 2008 with over 90% internationally recognised, including 18% of research classed as world-leading (UoA 12 and UoA 25). Visit our Research pages to find out more.
Industry Links
We work closely with Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), The Royal Society and American Chemical Society (ACS).
Facilities
Modern research grade laboratories, a well equipped radiochemistry laboratory (one of only three higher education institutions offering undergraduate radiochemistry), a range of modern analytical equipment for mass spectrometry (GC-MS, LC-MS, MALDI-MS, ICP-AES / ICP-OES), materials characterisation, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), atomic and molecular spectroscopy, electrochemical methods and sensors.
2012 saw the opening of the brand new Rosalind Franklin building based on Clifton campus, which provides some of the best laboratory teaching facilities for Chemistry students in the UK.
